In this vital role, you’ll be the eyes and hands of our Forensic Engineers, meticulously gathering evidence and documenting damage at complex incident sites. By using the latest in cutting edge technology, your work will be the foundation for our engineers’ investigations, helping them uncover the root cause of failures and deliver reliable conclusions.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with Forensic Engineers to understand their investigative needs and priorities.
- Apply the needs of a Forensic Engineer on-site by conducting thorough, systematic site assessments, meticulously recording observations and capturing critical details through photos, videos, and sketches.
- Collect and preserve physical evidence, ensuring proper chain of custody and adherence to established protocols.
- Utilize cutting edge, specialized measuring and surveying equipment to accurately document damage patterns, dimensions, and other key data points.
- Conduct basic material sampling and preparation for further lab analysis as instructed by the Engineer.
- Maintain detailed field notes and logs, meticulously recording observations, activities, and findings throughout the investigation.
- Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing site observations, collected evidence, and preliminary findings for review by the Engineer.
- Assist with setting up and operating basic testing equipment at the site, following the Engineer’s instructions.
- Maintain and calibrate field equipment, ensuring accuracy and proper functionality.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, relaying relevant information and addressing inquiries while preserving confidentiality.
- Be ready to learn from our staff of highly-experienced Forensic Engineers.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required, with experience in construction, maintenance, or related fields preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in field-based technical or investigative roles, such as construction inspection, field engineering, or technical services.
- Strong understanding of basic construction principles and materials.
- Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous approach to documentation.
- Proficient in using measuring and surveying tools, including laser distance meters, levels, and transits.
- Strong observation and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and document relevant details.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging environments.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina for extended periods working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record required.
